I’ll admit it, I walked into Gamestop today to buy The God of War Collection. Turns out that sumbitch don’t pop ’til tommora, and I saw that there was only one copy of Assassin’s Creed II sitting on the shelf (a marketing ploy, I’m sure), so I bought that instead.
The reviews are stellar, much less divisive than the first game. From what I’ve read, they built upon every good thing in the first game and fixed all the shitty stuff. Quoth Justin McElroy,

I played the first 30 mins. I forgot how much I loved the first game. It’s much more open-world oriented, it almost feels like a 15th century GTA.
Yes! Managed to score an early copy at the local mum and pop. Running home with it now!
I’m really tempted to buy this now, but think I might just bite the bullet and send my Xbox off for repair instead. Sigh!

It could be worse, it could have happened at this time last year (oh wait, it did!) or the year before.
Honestly I don’t think it’s too bad because the only game other than MW2 I really want to play this holiday season is Assassins Creed 2. Everything else has slipped back to next year.
Q1 2010 will be the worst time for a 360 to RROD – that lineup is CRAZY!
Steve are you still thinking about getting a PS3? What’s it cost over there nowadays?
I just got it yesterday and so far it hasn’t frustrated me as much as the last one. I really wanted to like the last one but it was way too repetitive and was filled with annoying things that took away from my enjoyment of the game (i.e. pushy leprosy bums, inability to swim, being forced to go at the speed of smell on a horse, etc.)
Russ, yeah maybe at Christmas time. Right now, the 120Gb PS3 slim costs £250, but you can get a 250Gb slim and a copy of Uncharted 2 (or AC2) for £270, which is pretty reasonable.
