Don’t laugh. This “electric dispensing pot” is pretty awesome. Basically, you pour tap water into its 3-liter basin and it keeps water at a constant hot temperature for you.
We had toyed with getting one of these when we lived in Hawaii, but how often do you really need hot water on a hot-ass island? Not as often as here apparently. I find myself using it at least once a day, if not twice. That horrible chore of heating up water for a cup of tea? Gone. Cup O’ Noodles? They don’t get any more instant than this. It’s surprising how the fact that I can have hot chocolate in less than ten seconds (five for the pour, five for the scoop/stir) is worth the $120 we paid for it. It also has a delay timer if you want to set it to be ready when you wake up, but we pretty much just keep it constantly on/full at the moment.

80 bucks?!
Doesn’t that use a hell of a lot of electricity?
$120. I had initially written $80 but wife corrected me. Yeah I don’t know about how much energy it takes up; here in the US they have similar systems built right into your sinktop, which I assume would take more energy than this gadget. I guess I assumed that since it’s Japanese-made, it’s gotta be efficient. I’m such a stereotyper.
I actually have something similar built into my sink, but it was totally free. It’s called “turning the knob towards red instead of blue.” Sure it may take a few moments more, but it saves me the price of two brand new games, which is cool with me. We all have out priorities, though.
nossir, not HOT water, but BOILING HOT water. ha-uge difference.
