Iphone Games: Fastlane

First off, why is there no better way for iPhone game devs to tout their games? It seems like the only place to hear about these games (without official word from the creator) is on Joystq or some other console specific site. We need a iPhone Fanboy site that isn’t Apple sponsored. Okay, rant over.

Fastlane is the highest quality game to hit the system telephone yet. Better than Monkey Ball, better than Line Rider, better than Aurora Feint. It’s sleek, simple and tight. The graphics are on par with a PS1 game, it has a replay feature that shows your race in spectator mode, time trials, a ranking system, multiple cars and colors; almost everything you could want on your iPhone except online multiplayer.

This title pushed the iPhone to its limits. Watching this game in action, it’s amazing to think how far we’ve come in terms of handheld technology.

The problem is that the game is $5.99. So you do have to shell out for the luxury of owning the best way to pass time while in line at the DMV. Also, the motion sensitive steering can be a bit difficult to pick up, thankfully you can tweak the sensitivity in the setting.

All in all, it’s a showpiece for the iPhone. Fastlane wowed the few friends I showed it to, I just wish these guys would start work on an FPS (zombies optional).
