The other day my wife and I were strolling through the newish Kapahulu Safeway and we decided to have a look at their always-interesting-but-not-quite-worth-buying nut bar. They had these little packages of various nuts, and on a whim I grabbed the shelled pistachios just to see how much a little box would cost. The price per pound, indicated on the shelf holding the packages, was something like $12. Lo and behold, the little package only cost like $2! I was confused, so I investigated. Someone had put the wrong label on the package, and the pistachios were being sold as shelled sunflower seed kernels (only $4 a pound).
So we did what any good American would do - we grabbed a package, told the person nearest to us about the deal, and headed over to the self-checkout to buy some $2 pistachios. I guess we should have told someone that worked there, but what if they had charged us full price? That would have been highway robbery!!

I love you Russ
Way to beat the system, Russ. The Hawaii pistachio racket has been strongarming us for too long. It’s about time someone fought back.
