So this was the mid-season finale, and we have to wait seven months until the next 10 episodes, at which point the series will end. So, how are they doing at the midpoint?

** Caution: major spoilers ahead. Read only if you’ve watched Battlestar Galactica up to Season 4, ep 10. **

I read a little bit of the fans’ reactions to this episode, and everyone seems to be complaining that so much happened so fast during this episode. And really, a lot did happen - the four “hidden” cylons came out, an alliance was formed between the cylons and humans, Kara found the way to Earth, and they went to Earth only to find it a barren wasteland. Yeah, that’s a lot. But really, I’ve been waiting the whole series to see what happens when they get to Earth, and it couldn’t have come soon enough. Now that they’re there, we can unravel the mysteries of Earth’s past, which is what interests me the most.

I’m not surprised that Earth is uninhabited. But then again, only that part of Earth was uninhabited - maybe they’ll find other people somewhere else? I also read that some viewers (with better eyes than me, apparently) thought the wasteland looked a lot like NYC:

Yeah, I can see that. Very Planet of the Apes-esque.

So can we assume that there was a nuclear war on Earth? I’m a little confused as to how this plays out to the series’ canon; as far as I know, Kobol is the origin of mankind and that the 12 colonies were spurred from that while a 13th colony was established on Earth that no one was in contact with. So are we, as humans, descendants of Kobol that killed ourselves off? How is it that the final five cylons have “been to Earth”? And how did they get a Bob Dylan song in their heads last season?

There was a lot of closure during this episode, but these are the things I would like addressed before the series ends:
- Who is the fifth final cylon? Cottle? Helo? Gaita? It’s probably someone old.
- What does Hera have to do with all this?
- What happened to the Earthlings and how does this tie into Kobol?
- How did the final five get to Earth?
- How did Kara’s viper get in such good shape after a visit to Earth?
- WTF Bod Dylan?
- What’s up with that four-toed statue? Just kidding, wrong show.
