Update: Thanks to a certain threevue editor who works at Gamestop, I got my very own Rock Band drum set today, for a super nice price. And it’s awesome.

I’ve got a plan, Stan. You see, I’d like to rock some Rock Band, but I don’t want to rock its $170 price tag.
Gamefly is shipping me Rock Band as we speak. When it arrives, I plan on using my “Keep It” option and purchasing it for a whopping 44 dollars/doll hairs. Unless I totally hate it. Although it doesn’t come with all those neat peripherals, I don’t want half of them. The guitar, from all the reviews I’ve read, sucks. And it just so happens that I already own two perfectly-working guitar controllers, thanks to Guitar Heroes II and III. That just leaves the microphone (which I can do without) and the drum set (which I definitely want).
All I need to do is wait until February 1st, when they start to sell the drum set as a standalone item. And then nab it. It says that retail for it will be 80 smackers, but I will find it for less. Mark my words. And it works out too, because I can jam on the guitar portion of the game until February, until the drums come in, and then the game will get a (probably much needed by then) boost in fun.

Hey I love the idea. Unfortunately I thought RockBand was the game i was not going to buy. I still think the drum set for 80 bucks is a rip off.
