Did you see that? That was comic gold my friend…that was Brad Neely’s Baby Cakes. I don’t know what is about the work of Mr. Neely, but it makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. Both his comics and his videos have equal parts absurd comedy and crippling maladjustment, a balance he sometimes skews in favor of the dark. Another significant entry by Neely in to the world of making funniness is the alternate audio commentary he recorded for the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone called Wizard People, Dear Readers. This was a film length commentary track that logs an alternate storyline to the Potter film, kind of along the lines of MST3K. It’s long, but worth a watch, says I.
One thing is for sure, Brad Neely is a smart guy. The topics of his comedy usually have a historical vein in them. The first thing that I ever heard of Neely was when Mark showed me the one, the only washington video and I immediately thought that the creator of that video was a genius and would one day be the President of the United States. This has yet to come to fruition apparently, in the meantime, superdeluxe.com plays host to a bevy of rich and colorful videos made by some up and coming comedians. There are also some stinkers in there too but I leave the job for you to sift through.
